Ekiti AD Candidate's Address
November 8, 2005

Oluwaranti Adebisi
    AD-USA Chairman

Ranti Adebisi for Ekiti State Governor 2007

The Man:

I greet you all and send my compliments for this season! My name is Felix Oluwaranti Adebisi; I am an indigene of Odo oro-Ekiti in Ikole local government area. I am married to Princess Fola shade Adebisi Nee George Adelabu (the late Ewi of Ado-Ekiti). I am committed to the up-liftment of our state and our people. I have a track record of being actively involved in programs and activities dedicated to the progress of Ekiti People in particular and Nigerians in general. My record dated back over twenty years and long before this season of Political upstarts jostling for power under the guise of Philanthropy and Community activism. For example, I was a founding member of Ekiti Parapo Association of New York a socio-philanthropy organization formed in 1989 where I was the Financial Secretary. I have been involved in several of the philanthropic activities of the association. I am also a member of the Ekiti Pillars of Progress (EPP) a political pressure group. I am also known and addressed by my well wishers as OPOMULERO

The mission:

I am presenting myself to contest the 2007 Governorship race as a member of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and soliciting for your support. I am not a reluctant candidate and this is the essence of my letter to you. Politics is not a spectator's game; as a result I have decided to be a participant in order to make a difference in the lives of our people. I am calling on you to get involved. It is very important that we get to know each other better before the real contest begins. We have in the past voted and elected or selected individuals that we hardly knew or have a clue about their background. This was done in the quest for a change. Desirable as change is, it is worthwhile to know what we are changing from and what we will change to before taking a decision.

2007 is another opportunity for a change. This time around we need to open our eyes and ask the right questions, demand for openness in governance, accountability, fairness and justice to all. This is the mission.

The Agenda:

  1. Development and mechanization of agriculture as a basis for empowerment of our people and for industrial development
  2. Improvement of access to and quality of education at all levels
  3. Investment in healthcare to make it accessible and affordable to all
  4. Investment in rural water supply schemes as a basis for prevention of all water borne diseases like guinea worm, typhoid etc.
  5. Investment in inner city renewal and rural development
  6. Investment in manpower training and computerization of government operations to improve productivity and service delivery

ALLIANCE FOR DEMOCRACY

Ekiti Pillars of Progress (EPP) is a socio-political action group whose primary mission is to develop various strategies to improve the quality of life of our people in Ekiti land via economic and social empowerment, political astuteness and awareness, educational/skill training, community and urban development, public health initiatives and small to medium scale business programs. It is our desire to contribute our quota through active involvement and participation in the Political affairs of our state. We therefore extend membership to our brothers and sisters who may be nursing political ambitions (regardless of party affiliation) while we encourage our current members both in Nigeria and abroad to run for various political offices in the state from the ward leadership levels to the Governorship and the national Assembly.

Ekiti Pillars of Progress came to life by God's grace and inspiration and the desire to develop positive Political and Economic changes in Ekiti. A group of sincere and hard working Ekiti sons and daughters under the able leadership of Mr. Oluwaranti Adebisi formed this organization on February 21st 2004 in Perth Amboy, NJUSA. Our membership is open to all persons who believe in our visions and ideals.

Today the organization can boast of solid membership all over the USA and in Nigeria, with sister organizations under its umbrella in cities like Atlanta, GA, Brooklyn NY, New Jersey, Bethesda and Baltimore MD, Columbus Ohio and a few other ones still in the pipeline throughout the USA, Canada, UK and Ireland.

Our involvement in politics and in governance will offer our people a choice between the status quo and a suitable alternative wherein governance and politics will not be seen by participants as easy avenues for personal enrichment, selfish machinations, settling scores and gross abuse of power. We plan to offer quality leadership to our people not only in governance but also in every aspect of our social fabric including but not limited to:

  • Community and Social Responsibility
  • Love and Respect for Fellow citizens
  • Fairness and Equity
  • Delivery of social amenities and necessities of life
  • Creation and maintenance of enabling environment for opportunities which the people desire
  • Create wealth and have unrestricted access to economic activities

We believe politics is about all of us regardless of party affiliations or ideologies. We were first and foremost Ekiti people before politics and politicians. We need to come together in cooperation and collaboration to bring to our people the good things of life. They deserve it and a lot more.
